Backyard April to November                                                         Hummingbirds are here in large numbers for the spring migration!

Between the Huachuca Mountains on the West, and the Mule Mountains on the East, we are a short drive from numerous seasonal birding hotspots (visit the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory at http://www.sabo.org/birding/huacspv.htm - an excellent resource to discover the birding sites in  our area). See our Bird Sightings web page for current birds in the area.

The paulownia and mimosa trees in front provide nice shade in the summer for the front veranda with great views from the bench looking toward the Huachuca mountains in the west.

The wide open skies of Arizona are an ever changing canvas composed of all those colors the Southwestern US is known for. Exceptional sunrises and sunsets are the norm for this area.  Halfway between 'here' and 'there' is the San Pedro Riparian area. The north flowing San Pedro river provides a riparian system migration highway for many species of birds. The Huachuca mountains to the west with a little late winter snow visible through the patches of cloud are the year around home to many birds, and the seasonal home to a world-class variety of hummingbirds. The many hiking trails adds to the attraction of these mountains for birders and hikers alike. Some of the birds obligingly nest in or near established campgrounds. This includes the Elegant Trogon in nearby Huachuca Canyon and year-round hummingbirds at our bed and breakfast.
